Also wanted to highlight that ABC has partnered with SOAPnet, who will deliver exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the featured talent with a one-hour special, "A Very Soapy Christmas." The special will focus on the making of the new holiday album and reveal special holiday memories from each performer, complete with stories, personal photos and favorite family home videos. Featured performers are: "One Life to Live" Kathy Brier, Renee Goldsberry, Kristen Alderson, Kassie DePaiva and Tika Sumpter, along with "All My Children" stars Susan Lucci, Jacob Young, Eden Riegel, Bobbie Eakes, Vincent Irizarry, and "General Hospital's" Jason Thompson, Scott Clifton and Ignacio Serricchio.

The special will focus on the making of the new holiday album and reveal special holiday memories from each performer, complete with stories, personal photos and favorite family home videos.

This is what I'll be looking forward to with Vincent, hopefully going all the way back to his childhood holiday celebrations! Smiley

Hey guys,

ABC.com has now put up a flash audio player which lets you hear brief audio samples for each track on the CD.  You can scroll through the tracks by clicking on the double arrow control...

Vincent sings, "Please Come Home For Christmas"...he sounds so fantastic!  Here is the direct link:

Hey Ruth,

The ads on ABC and Soapnet say that it will also be available through retailers, but do not provide a list.  BUT, I just peeked online at Walmart.com and here is the direct link...they are selling it for $5.00 less than what ABC & Soapnet suggested the retail price at!  I'm sure Walmart will be carrying it at their stores as well since they have sold AMC products before (e.g. Fusion makeup & cologne line).  Online the CD is running at $13.88.  The website says that free shipping from "site to store" is also available for select locations.

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5386373

Good luck finding it -- if I see it at other stores I'll be sure to let you know.

Thanks so much for the links Rachel. The ABC store wasn't supportive with the samples, but I could enjoy that little glimpse of the CD on the other site. I never heard Vincent sing, so it was really interesting. I thought he has a darker voice. Sounds so cool. I always wished Vincent would sing a duet with Bobbie, but unfortunately I guess that won't happen now...

Thanks again for posting the links, Katrin

Hey Ruth, I've heard through the grapevine that it's also at Target, so maybe if you check with them now it will be in stock?  Good luck!

Hey guys,

Just bringing this thread to the top to remind everyone this Soapnet 1-hour TV special will air TOMORROW!  I've already set my DV-R machine since I won't be at home at that time.

Enjoy, Rachel

Vincent appeared on the SN "making of the CD" special about 50 minutes in, the next-to-last performer to record.  There were snippets of him recording his song "Please Come Home For Christmas," dialogue with the recording engineer about how to do it (Vincent took charge here!), and rememberances of Christmas in his personal life, how much more he enjoys the holiday now that he has children.  He said he wanted to do this because of the fans' support (awww!).  Vincent looked casually fab and fit and rather gorgeous, in the T-shirt and faded jeans! Smiley

SN will repeat the special several times this weekend, the next at midnight Eastern tonight.  Enjoy! Smiley

I took a look at it also. It was the first time I'd heard Vincent sing in a very long time. What a powerful voice he has, pure and crystal clear, the kind that fills a large space with very little effort. Broadway caliber. Amazing!

Wow! Thank you, guys for reminding me! I stayed up to see this and I was blown away. First of all, I didn't realize it was bluesy--I love jazz and the blues! And Vincent was so totally into it, just like with everything he does--what a treat to see! That voice, so pure. I only wish I could've heard the whole song! Smiley

"Please Come Home For Christmas" was originally a song performed by The Eagles, in a simple, '50s doo-wop, yet bluesy rock style, the piano playing the sound of bells ringing at the beginning and at the end.  I knew Vincent would take Don Henley's beautiful original tenor to new, soaring heights! Smiley  It was as if he chose it for David to be singing it at this time of his life:  "My baby's gone, I have no friends, to wish me greetings once again."  Then later, still, still hoping:  "So won't you tell me, you'll never move on, that Christmas and New Year's, will find you home.  There'll be no more sorrow, no grief and pain.  And I'll be happy, once again."  As you can see, I LOVE this song! Vincent was amazing, wasn't he? A perfect song to show off his pure tenor voice. Also a song he could put his own spin on. I caught it again early this morning. I'd love to see him in a Broadway musical. This is a man who wouldn't need one of those silly mikes looped around his ear. His voice would reach the back row of the second balcony on its own! What a pair of lungs he has. LOL.

Hi Katrin,

It's so good to see you over here!  Smiley  In between my holiday shopping and crazy family life, I hope to get the start of my video library up on the media site.  I will definitely include these clips as part of the collection!  I know you are from Europe, so you don't get to see these specials, right?

Thank you so much Rachel. Yeah, I'm from Europe and already tried to find those clips (also the ones with Bobbie) via internet, but wasn't succeed yet. I'm happy that friends like you are willing to help me out. Hope it doesn't make too many circumstances...

If you upload these to the video library, am I able to download them? Usually I can not watch larger files via internet, because of my slow connection.

Thanks so much for putting your effort into it between Xmas shopping and crazy family life, Katrin

You're very welcome! I really enjoy doing these sorts of things, especially when it means sharing what I have with anyone else who is interested...   Smiley

To answer your question, there won't be anything to download, you can just view them directly on my site.  I am designing a "media player" that is right on the web page, and the files will play straight from there.  The files will be encoded in Flash format, (what YouTube does for its clients) which represents a higher resolution level (high video quality) within a smaller file (less memory) -- which makes for faster viewing and less work for your computer.

High speed internet is recommended, but if you have a slower dial-up connection, you should still be able to view the clips.  It may be a little slow for you.  When I format them I will try and keep the file sizes smaller, so I hope it all works out!

This is very exciting, Rachel. Your site is spectacular in so many diverse ways, IMO. I find it unique and professional, very different from most fan sites.

mcdare, you are so right. It's a wonderful place made with the heart and I like it a lot.

Rachel, thanks for your explaination. I know that the flash video format is already very compressed, so it usually has a smaller filesize then wmv for example. Looking forward to that video library, because I think it's great to get all these impressions about Vincent. Thanks for putting so much effort in it.

Glad you guys can enjoy what someone had time to put up on YouTube!  I shouldn't promise anything to anyone during the holidays...I am way too swamped right now with so many things.

Anyhow, I should have bought the CD last nite on Amazon.com -- this CD was listed at $12.99!  Maybe it was a mistake, because today it jumped to $14.99.

Hello!

I am finally winding down from today's holiday festivities...my husband apologized for not being able to find this "Holiday Affair" CD in stores, but gave me some good info...while tooling around in the iTunes music store, he said he found the CD available for download & sale.  On iTunes, the entire album is just $9.99.

Open the "Music Store" from your iTunes software and type in either "Vincent Irizarry" or "Holiday Affair" in the search bar at the top.  Unlike other albums, you cannot purchase individual tracks, but must buy the entire album.

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday celebration, Santa was very good to me & my family!   Smiley

Hugs & peace, Rachel
